VW Crafter pump faults
AdBlue Delete and Removal enquiries for VW Crafter pump faults start with confirming SCR fitment and diagnosing the warning. On SCR-equipped Crafters, low reductant pressure can result from a delivery-module fault, but leaks, restrictions, electrical faults and pressure-sensing problems can produce similar symptoms. Send your registration so we can check the relevant vehicle specification.

01Understanding the service
Understanding Crafter AdBlue Pump Faults
The AdBlue delivery system supplies fluid under pressure to the dosing injector in the exhaust. Its layout and serviceable components vary by Crafter generation and specification. A low-pressure code is a starting point for testing, not proof that the pump needs replacing. The following codes and warnings need to be interpreted alongside vehicle-specific diagnostic information.
- P20E8: Reductant pressure too low; possible causes include delivery faults, leaks, restrictions or incorrect pressure feedback.
- P208E: Reductant injection valve stuck closed, bank 1 unit 1; this does not establish that the valve is clogged.
- P2047: Reductant injection valve circuit/open, bank 1 unit 1; check the injector circuit, connectors and wiring.
- An AdBlue level warning with a full tank may require level-sensing and refill-recognition checks rather than pump replacement.
- A remaining-distance countdown indicates a starting restriction may follow; it does not identify the failed component.
Diagnostic Checks Before Replacing the Pump
Diagnosis should include a full fault-code scan, relevant live data and checks of power supplies, earths, connectors and pipework. A technician may compare requested and measured pressure and test dosing operation using the appropriate procedure. Crystallisation can indicate a leak or dosing problem, but visible deposits alone do not prove internal pump failure. Heater faults and temperature readings also matter in cold conditions. Whether a pump, delivery module or larger tank assembly needs replacement depends on the fitted system and available parts.
Which VW Crafters Have AdBlue?
UK Euro 6 diesel Crafters generally use SCR with AdBlue, including the second-generation range introduced in 2017. However, model year, engine size or a Euro 5 description alone should not be used to determine an earlier vehicle's equipment. Registration date can also differ from build date. Send your registration, and if needed your VIN, so SCR fitment, engine identification and the relevant diagnostic procedures can be checked.
Assessing the Available Options
AdBlue Delete and Removal describe different approaches and should not be treated as interchangeable. Software changes do not restore a defective SCR component. A repair should address the confirmed cause and include any required priming, adaptation or functional checks. Neither a future fault-free outcome nor clearance of every starting restriction can be promised without assessing the vehicle.
What to Send Before a Mobile Visit
Send your registration, current postcode, mileage, warning photographs and any scan report. Tell us whether the engine starts, how much distance remains on the countdown and whether AdBlue has recently been added or parts replaced. Engine power output alone does not identify the ECU or software version. These details help establish the next diagnostic step and check whether a mobile visit is suitable and available.

Check Your AdBlue Fault Code
Enter a diagnostic code to explore its meaning and the information to send with your enquiry.
8 common codes
- P20E8
Fault name
Reductant pressure too low
What it means
The system has reported insufficient reductant pressure. Diagnostic checks help establish the cause, rather than assuming a failed pump.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P20EE
Fault name
SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold
What it means
SCR NOx reduction efficiency has been reported below its expected threshold. The full scan and sensor readings help identify possible causes.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P204F
Fault name
Reductant system performance, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns SCR operation or monitoring. Read it alongside the full scan and vehicle-specific information.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2200
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P229F
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit range/performance, bank 1 sensor 2
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2047
Fault name
Reductant injection valve circuit/open, bank 1 unit 1
What it means
The code concerns a dosing or aftertreatment injector. Check the fitted system and full scan before assuming a cause.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P203F
Fault name
Reductant level too low
What it means
The system reports that the reductant level is too low. Check the actual fluid level and whether the reported level is accurate.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P207F
Fault name
Reductant quality performance
What it means
The system has reported reductant quality performance. The code alone does not identify the cause.

Ask on WhatsAppWhat is an AdBlue Delete for a VW Crafter?
AdBlue Delete generally means modifying ECU software to disable SCR-related functions. It does not repair a failed pump, leaking pipe or damaged wiring. Compatibility and the effect on warnings or starting restrictions depend on the vehicle and its software; send your registration and diagnostic findings for assessment.
How do AdBlue Delete and Removal differ?
AdBlue Delete and Removal generally describe disabling SCR-related software functions, whereas Repair aims to restore the system's operation. A Fix should follow diagnosis: it may involve wiring, a leak, a dosing injector, a sensor or the delivery module rather than pump replacement. A correctly diagnosed repair should not be dismissed as inevitably temporary.
Can you assess a Crafter that has reached a no-start countdown?
A Crafter with an AdBlue-related starting restriction may be assessable, but restarting cannot be promised before diagnosis. The cause must be established and the appropriate manufacturer diagnostic procedure followed. An ECU counter reset alone is not a universal solution, and an unrelated starting fault may also be present.
Does AdBlue Removal mean taking out the pump?
In this context, Removal usually refers to software changes rather than physically removing the tank or pump. That does not resolve physical leaks, electrical damage or other mechanical defects. The work required depends on the specific vehicle and fault.
What information do you need for a quote?
Send your full registration, current postcode, mileage and the exact warning text, together with any fault-code report. Registration helps identify the vehicle specification, but a VIN or diagnostic scan may also be needed to confirm fitted equipment and ECU software. Your postcode lets us check mobile coverage and availability.
Can I send my warning light photo on WhatsApp?
Yes. A clear photograph of the warning and remaining-distance countdown is useful, along with any diagnostic report. A photograph helps with initial triage but cannot confirm whether the pump, injector, sensor or another component has failed.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency callouts?
Yes. Our standard hours are Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Emergency callouts are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, subject to location and availability. An additional emergency callout charge applies and is confirmed before dispatch.
