Ford EcoBlue AdBlue fault guide
AdBlue Delete, Removal, Repair, Fix enquiries for Ford EcoBlue vehicles start with confirming SCR fitment and identifying the fault. This guide covers warnings and diagnostic checks relevant to SCR-equipped diesels, including many 2.0 EcoBlue Transit, Transit Custom and Ranger variants. EcoBlue is an engine-family name, not proof of a particular AdBlue system. Send your registration to check which information applies to your vehicle.

01Understanding the service
Recognising Ford EcoBlue AdBlue warnings
Warnings may relate to a low AdBlue level or a system malfunction, and those require different responses. Depending on the vehicle and fault, a countdown can lead to restart inhibition once its stated conditions are reached. It does not necessarily mean the starter will not crank. Record the exact message and remaining distance, consult the handbook and arrange diagnosis promptly. An engine management light or reduced power alone does not establish an SCR fault.
- Low AdBlue level or refill request
- AdBlue or exhaust-system malfunction message
- Remaining-distance warning before restart inhibition
- Engine management light with relevant diagnostic codes
- Reduced power that requires checking for SCR and other engine faults
Fault codes and diagnosis on Transit and Ranger
P208E generally means reductant injection valve stuck closed, bank 1 unit 1. P20EE generally means SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold, bank 1. Confirm the complete code and Ford-specific diagnostic description for the vehicle. P208E does not by itself prove the injector needs replacement, and P20EE does not by itself condemn the catalyst or a NOx sensor. Diagnosis may include fluid quality, dosing pressure and delivery, injector deposits, wiring, exhaust leaks, exhaust temperatures and sensor plausibility. Record codes and freeze-frame data before clearing them.
AdBlue Delete, Removal, Repair, Fix: understanding the terms
AdBlue Delete and Removal commonly describe changes intended to disable SCR functions. They do not restore defective dosing hardware or establish why a warning occurred. Repair should address the confirmed cause, which may involve wiring, a sensor, the dosing system or another related component. Fix is a broad description, not a diagnosis.
Preparing for a mobile diagnostic visit
Send your registration, postcode, exact warning text, remaining countdown distance and any scan report. Mention recent refills, previous parts replacements and whether the engine currently starts. Mobile attendance depends on coverage, availability and safe access to the vehicle. Some faults need further testing or parts, so completion time cannot be confirmed from a dashboard photo. Adaptation resets and post-repair checks should follow the applicable procedure rather than being used to conceal an unresolved fault.
What to do before the appointment
Use the vehicle handbook to distinguish a refill warning from a system fault. For a low-level warning, follow the specified refill quantity and recognition procedure using AdBlue meeting ISO 22241. Adding fluid may not resolve a malfunction warning. Do not assume that clearing codes will remove an active restart restriction.
- Photograph the warning and note any remaining-distance countdown.
- Keep diagnostic reports and recent repair invoices available.
- Avoid adding water or unapproved additives to the AdBlue tank.
- If incorrect fluid has been added, avoid starting the engine and seek advice.
- If the vehicle will not restart, explain this before arranging attendance; recovery may be necessary.

Check Your AdBlue Fault Code
Enter a diagnostic code to explore its meaning and the information to send with your enquiry.
8 common codes
- P20E8
Fault name
Reductant pressure too low
What it means
The system has reported insufficient reductant pressure. Diagnostic checks help establish the cause, rather than assuming a failed pump.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P20EE
Fault name
SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold
What it means
SCR NOx reduction efficiency has been reported below its expected threshold. The full scan and sensor readings help identify possible causes.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P204F
Fault name
Reductant system performance, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns SCR operation or monitoring. Read it alongside the full scan and vehicle-specific information.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2200
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P229F
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit range/performance, bank 1 sensor 2
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2047
Fault name
Reductant injection valve circuit/open, bank 1 unit 1
What it means
The code concerns a dosing or aftertreatment injector. Check the fitted system and full scan before assuming a cause.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P203F
Fault name
Reductant level too low
What it means
The system reports that the reductant level is too low. Check the actual fluid level and whether the reported level is accurate.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P207F
Fault name
Reductant quality performance
What it means
The system has reported reductant quality performance. The code alone does not identify the cause.

Customer questions
Questions customers ask us
Still unsure? Send us your registration and a photo of the warning on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppWhat is AdBlue Delete for a Ford EcoBlue?
AdBlue Delete refers to software changes intended to disable SCR dosing, monitoring or related restart restrictions. It does not repair failed hardware and cannot guarantee freedom from future warnings or breakdowns. Ford EcoBlue configurations vary; send your registration so the vehicle specification can be checked.
What is AdBlue Removal on a Ford Transit?
AdBlue Removal is often used to describe electronic disabling of SCR functions rather than physical removal of the tank and other components. Not every Transit diesel uses the same system, and earlier versions may not have AdBlue. Send your registration to check fitment.
How do AdBlue Delete and Removal differ?
AdBlue Delete changes system operation in software. Removal may refer to the same process, depending on the service description. Repair addresses the underlying fault to restore intended SCR operation, while Fix is a general term that should be tied to a diagnosed cause. None of these labels alone establishes what work a particular vehicle needs.
What does an AdBlue Fix involve on a Ford Ranger?
On an SCR-equipped Ranger, a fix should follow checks of fault codes, fluid level and quality, wiring, dosing pressure, injector operation and NOx sensor readings as appropriate. A warning does not automatically mean the injector is blocked or that a software change is needed. Send your registration and the exact warning text.
What vehicle and postcode information do you need for a quote?
Send your full registration, current postcode, mileage, warning text and any recent repair or refill history. Registration helps identify the vehicle specification, while ECU identification may require a diagnostic scan. Your postcode lets us check mobile coverage and availability.
Can I send my warning light photo on WhatsApp?
Yes. Send a clear dashboard photo and any diagnostic report, including complete fault codes and suffixes where available. These help with initial assessment, but live data and physical tests may still be needed to establish the cause.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency callouts?
Yes. Our standard hours are Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Emergency callouts are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, subject to location and availability. An additional emergency callout charge applies and is confirmed before dispatch.
