01Understanding the service
Check training and relevant SCR experience
Ask who will carry out the work, what automotive diagnostic training they have and whether they have experience with your engine and SCR system. A service label or access to programming tools alone does not demonstrate diagnostic competence. A capable technician should explain the evidence behind a recommendation in plain language.
- Ask about relevant qualifications and manufacturer or diagnostic training.
- Check experience with your vehicle's engine, emissions system and control modules.
- Request a written scope of work and an explanation of any diagnostic limitations.
- Avoid claims that one procedure cures every warning or starting problem.
Expect diagnosis before a recommendation
An SCR warning or restart countdown is a symptom, not a component diagnosis. Depending on the vehicle and fault, testing may include fluid quality, leaks, dosing pressure, injector operation, heater circuits, sensor readings and wiring integrity. Communication faults require checks of power supplies, grounds and network wiring before a control module or sensor is condemned.
- Record complete fault codes, their status and available freeze-frame data before clearing them.
- Check relevant live data and follow vehicle-specific test procedures.
- Consider exhaust leaks, engine faults and other conditions that can affect SCR performance.
- Agree how repairs and any required adaptations will be verified.
Understand fitment and fault codes
SCR fitment varies with model, engine, build date and market specification. Some Peugeot and Citroën BlueHDi vehicles use AdBlue, as do SCR-equipped versions from manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Audi and BMW. A badge or registration year alone is not enough to confirm the exact system. Send your registration; diagnostic identification may still be needed to establish the installed control units and software.
- P20E8: reductant pressure too low; it does not by itself prove that the pump has failed.
- P20EE: SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold, bank 1; several operating or component faults can contribute.
- U029E: lost communication with NOx sensor B; check the vehicle-specific sensor layout and diagnostic procedure.
- U010E: lost communication with the reductant control module.
- P2002: diesel particulate filter efficiency below threshold, bank 1; this is a DPF-related code, not direct evidence of an AdBlue fault.
Assess the proposed work and supporting information
Vehicle-specific guides can help explain symptoms, but they cannot establish which component has failed. Ask the technician to separate confirmed findings from suspected causes and explain any further testing needed. Reports of tank or sensor faults on other vehicles should not substitute for testing yours.
- Request the diagnostic findings supporting the recommendation.
- Ask whether a relevant manufacturer update or service procedure applies.
- Clarify whether the proposal restores SCR operation or disables functions.
- Keep a record of the work performed and the final diagnostic results.
Check mobile equipment and site suitability
Confirm that the technician has suitable diagnostic access, test equipment and technical information for your vehicle. Where programming is required, appropriate battery support and the correct procedure are important because an interrupted write can damage control-unit software. Some testing or repairs may require workshop access rather than a mobile visit.
- Confirm coverage using your current postcode.
- Describe the parking location and whether the vehicle starts.
- Ask which checks can be completed on site and which may need further facilities.
- Confirm how the outcome will be documented and any unresolved faults explained.

Check Your AdBlue Fault Code
Enter a diagnostic code to explore its meaning and the information to send with your enquiry.
8 common codes
- P20E8
Fault name
Reductant pressure too low
What it means
The system has reported insufficient reductant pressure. Diagnostic checks help establish the cause, rather than assuming a failed pump.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P20EE
Fault name
SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold
What it means
SCR NOx reduction efficiency has been reported below its expected threshold. The full scan and sensor readings help identify possible causes.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P204F
Fault name
Reductant system performance, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns SCR operation or monitoring. Read it alongside the full scan and vehicle-specific information.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2200
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P229F
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit range/performance, bank 1 sensor 2
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2047
Fault name
Reductant injection valve circuit/open, bank 1 unit 1
What it means
The code concerns a dosing or aftertreatment injector. Check the fitted system and full scan before assuming a cause.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P203F
Fault name
Reductant level too low
What it means
The system reports that the reductant level is too low. Check the actual fluid level and whether the reported level is accurate.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P207F
Fault name
Reductant quality performance
What it means
The system has reported reductant quality performance. The code alone does not identify the cause.

Customer questions
Questions customers ask us
Still unsure? Send us your registration and a photo of the warning on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppWhat is AdBlue Delete?
AdBlue Delete generally means modifying software to disable some or all SCR dosing, monitoring and related warning functions. It does not repair failed components, and it should not be described as a guaranteed cure for every countdown, starting fault or reduced-power condition. The systems involved vary by vehicle; send your registration and warning details so the specification can be checked.
What is AdBlue Removal?
AdBlue Removal is often used to describe software deactivation of SCR functions rather than physical removal of the tank or other components. Ask the technician to explain exactly what the proposed service includes and which faults have been diagnosed.
What is the difference between AdBlue Delete and AdBlue Repair?
AdBlue Repair aims to restore the SCR system's operation. Depending on the diagnosis, this may involve wiring repairs, a manufacturer software update, or replacement of a confirmed faulty sensor, pump, heater or dosing injector. Delete disables functions instead of repairing them. Hardware replacement is not inherently temporary when the underlying cause has been addressed.
What is an AdBlue Fix?
AdBlue Fix is a general service term, not a specific technical procedure. A suitable solution depends on the stored faults and test results. Ask what caused the warning, what work is proposed and how the result will be verified.
What vehicle and postcode information do you need for a quote?
Send your registration, current postcode, mileage, dashboard warning text and any diagnostic report. Your registration helps identify the likely vehicle specification, while your postcode allows mobile coverage to be checked. Exact ECU hardware and installed software normally need to be read from the vehicle.
Can I send my warning light photo on WhatsApp?
Send a clear warning-light photo, your registration and any complete fault-code report through the WhatsApp contact option. These details help with initial assessment, but a dashboard photo cannot confirm the failed component or replace diagnostic testing.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency callouts?
Yes. Our standard hours are Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Emergency callouts are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, subject to location and availability. An additional emergency callout charge applies and is confirmed before dispatch.
