BlueHDi AdBlue common problems
AdBlue Delete and Removal enquiries for Peugeot, Citroën and DS BlueHDi vehicles should start with accurate vehicle identification and diagnosis. Common concerns include UREA or emissions warnings, low reductant pressure and a countdown to a starting restriction. Send your registration, postcode and warning details so we can check the likely system fitted and mobile availability.

01Understanding the service
Common BlueHDi SCR Faults and Warning Messages
BlueHDi diesel engines use SCR with AdBlue to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. Faults can involve the tank/pump assembly, heater, pressure sensing, injector, NOx sensors, wiring or fluid quality. Crystallised deposits may affect dosing, but visible deposits alone do not establish the cause. Dashboard wording varies by model and year; low fluid level and confirmed SCR faults can both lead to starting-restriction warnings. The following codes are diagnostic starting points, not component replacement instructions.
- P20E8: Reductant pressure too low; check pressure generation, supply, leaks and relevant electrical or sensing faults.
- P2002: Diesel particulate filter efficiency below threshold, bank 1; this is a DPF code, not an AdBlue-specific code.
- P208E: Reductant injection valve stuck closed, bank 1 unit 1; deposits are one possible cause, not a confirmed diagnosis.
- U029E: Lost communication with NOx sensor B; check the sensor's power supply, wiring and communication network.
- P20EE: SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold, bank 1; investigate dosing, sensor readings and operating conditions before condemning the catalyst.
AdBlue Delete: What the Term Means
AdBlue Delete describes software changes intended to disable SCR operation or fault monitoring. It does not restore faulty hardware and should not be described as a guaranteed cure for all warning lights, starting restrictions or reduced-power symptoms. Other engine and exhaust-system faults can remain. The installed ECU and software must be identified before compatibility can be assessed.
AdBlue Removal, Repair and Fix Assessment
AdBlue Removal commonly refers to electronic disabling rather than physically taking out the tank or injector. AdBlue Repair instead targets the diagnosed defect to restore operation. An AdBlue Fix may be as straightforward as a correctly performed refill, or it may require electrical testing, component replacement and the relevant diagnostic procedures. On some BlueHDi versions, pump or internal tank faults may require an assembly replacement; this depends on the fitted unit and available repair options.
What to Check Before Replacing Parts
If a warning remains after topping up, check the refill quantity and recognition procedure specified in the vehicle handbook. Do not assume the pump or a NOx sensor has failed. Diagnosis may require a full fault-code scan, live pressure readings, dosing checks, fluid assessment and wiring tests. Tank ventilation or deformation concerns should be investigated where relevant to the fitted assembly, rather than assumed from engine size alone. Record the exact countdown message and seek assessment promptly, as the vehicle may refuse to restart when the displayed allowance expires.
BlueHDi Models and Fitment Checks
The ranges below include UK BlueHDi versions with SCR, but badges, engines and availability vary by year. Petrol, electric and some earlier diesel variants in these ranges do not use AdBlue. Send your registration to confirm the likely fitment; a VIN or diagnostic check may be required if details are uncertain.
- Peugeot 208, 308 and 508: applicable BlueHDi diesel versions.
- Peugeot 2008, 3008 and 5008: applicable BlueHDi diesel versions.
- Citroën C3, C4 and C5 Aircross: applicable BlueHDi diesel versions.
- Citroën Berlingo and Dispatch: applicable BlueHDi diesel versions.
- DS 3, DS 4 and DS 7 Crossback: applicable BlueHDi diesel versions.

Check Your AdBlue Fault Code
Enter a diagnostic code to explore its meaning and the information to send with your enquiry.
8 common codes
- P20E8
Fault name
Reductant pressure too low
What it means
The system has reported insufficient reductant pressure. Diagnostic checks help establish the cause, rather than assuming a failed pump.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P20EE
Fault name
SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold
What it means
SCR NOx reduction efficiency has been reported below its expected threshold. The full scan and sensor readings help identify possible causes.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P204F
Fault name
Reductant system performance, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns SCR operation or monitoring. Read it alongside the full scan and vehicle-specific information.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2200
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P229F
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit range/performance, bank 1 sensor 2
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2047
Fault name
Reductant injection valve circuit/open, bank 1 unit 1
What it means
The code concerns a dosing or aftertreatment injector. Check the fitted system and full scan before assuming a cause.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P203F
Fault name
Reductant level too low
What it means
The system reports that the reductant level is too low. Check the actual fluid level and whether the reported level is accurate.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P207F
Fault name
Reductant quality performance
What it means
The system has reported reductant quality performance. The code alone does not identify the cause.

Customer questions

Still unsure? Send us your registration and a photo of the warning on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppWhat is AdBlue Delete for a BlueHDi engine?
AdBlue Delete refers to software changes intended to disable SCR operation or monitoring. It does not repair a failed pump, injector, sensor or wiring fault. Compatibility and the effect on warning messages depend on the vehicle and its software; send your registration and fault details for assessment.
What is AdBlue Removal?
AdBlue Removal is often used to describe electronic disabling of the SCR system rather than physical removal of its components. The term alone does not specify what work is proposed, and it should not be treated as a repair of defective hardware.
What is the difference between AdBlue Delete and AdBlue Repair?
AdBlue Delete changes system operation or monitoring, whereas AdBlue Repair aims to restore the SCR system's function. Depending on the diagnosis, repair may involve wiring, an injector, a NOx sensor or a tank/pump assembly. Neither a fault code nor a warning light alone establishes which component needs attention.
What is an AdBlue Fix for the 'UREA' light?
An AdBlue Fix should start by identifying whether the warning concerns low fluid level, an SCR fault or another related issue. A correct refill may resolve a low-level warning, but pressure, dosing, sensor or electrical faults need diagnosis. Clearing codes alone does not correct the underlying problem.
What vehicle and postcode information do you need for a quote?
Send your registration, postcode, mileage, exact warning message and any fault codes. The registration helps identify the likely engine and SCR specification, while the postcode helps us check mobile coverage. A VIN or diagnostic ECU identification may also be needed to confirm the installed hardware and software.
Can I send my warning light photo on WhatsApp?
Yes. Send a clear photo of the warning and any remaining-distance countdown, together with the full diagnostic report if available. These details help with initial assessment, but testing may still be needed before the fault or repair requirements can be confirmed.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency callouts?
Yes. Our standard hours are Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Emergency callouts are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, subject to location and availability. An additional emergency callout charge applies and is confirmed before dispatch.
