AdBlue warning after topping up
AdBlue Delete and Removal describe different approaches, not equivalent repairs. If your AdBlue warning remains after topping up, first establish whether the vehicle has recognised the refill or is reporting a separate SCR fault. Disabling the system does not repair faulty hardware. Send your registration, postcode and a photo of the warning so the vehicle specification and mobile service availability can be checked.

01Understanding the service
Why your AdBlue warning stays on after a refill
A warning may remain if the amount added was below the vehicle's minimum recognised refill quantity, the refill recognition procedure has not completed, or an SCR fault is still active. A routine refill does not normally require a diagnostic reset. Follow the handbook for the required quantity and any ignition or driving procedure, and avoid adding more fluid blindly. A full tank will not clear a warning caused by a failed pump, sensor, dosing injector or other SCR fault.
- Record the exact warning and any remaining no-start countdown.
- Note how much AdBlue you added and when.
- Use AdBlue meeting ISO 22241 and follow the handbook's filling instructions.
- If starting is already prohibited, seek diagnosis rather than assuming another top-up will restore starting.
Vehicle fitment and fault-code checks
SCR equipment varies by engine, production date and market specification. Some Citroën Berlingo and Peugeot Partner BlueHDi variants, Mercedes-Benz W205/W213 diesels, and Audi, Volkswagen, Jaguar and Land Rover diesels have AdBlue systems, but the model name alone is not enough to confirm the hardware. Send your registration to help identify the relevant system; a VIN or diagnostic scan may also be needed.
- P20E8 means reductant pressure too low. It calls for pressure-system checks rather than automatic replacement of a level sensor or tank.
- P2002 means diesel particulate filter efficiency below threshold, bank 1. It is not an AdBlue refill or level code.
- NOx sensor faults require the complete code and manufacturer-specific description; communication, supply and sensor-performance faults are different.
- An 'Incorrect Diesel Exhaust Fluid' message does not by itself prove the fluid is contaminated; checks may also be needed for dosing and SCR performance.
Diagnosis before choosing a fix
Diagnosis should distinguish an unrecognised refill from a stored or active system fault. Depending on the vehicle, checks may include fault codes and freeze-frame data, reported tank level, reductant pressure, dosing operation, wiring, leaks, crystallised deposits and NOx sensor readings. A reset alone will not cure a hardware fault. Any repair should address the confirmed cause, followed by the manufacturer's required checks or adaptations. Software disabling should not be described as repairing the underlying fault or guaranteeing that every warning or starting restriction will disappear.
What to send before a visit
Provide your registration, current postcode, exact dashboard message, remaining countdown and whether the engine currently starts. Include the quantity added, any recent repairs and complete fault codes if available. Photos help with initial assessment but do not replace testing. Mobile attendance and the work possible at your location need to be confirmed.

Check Your AdBlue Fault Code
Enter a diagnostic code to explore its meaning and the information to send with your enquiry.
8 common codes
- P20E8
Fault name
Reductant pressure too low
What it means
The system has reported insufficient reductant pressure. Diagnostic checks help establish the cause, rather than assuming a failed pump.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P20EE
Fault name
SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold
What it means
SCR NOx reduction efficiency has been reported below its expected threshold. The full scan and sensor readings help identify possible causes.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P204F
Fault name
Reductant system performance, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns SCR operation or monitoring. Read it alongside the full scan and vehicle-specific information.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2200
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P229F
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit range/performance, bank 1 sensor 2
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2047
Fault name
Reductant injection valve circuit/open, bank 1 unit 1
What it means
The code concerns a dosing or aftertreatment injector. Check the fitted system and full scan before assuming a cause.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P203F
Fault name
Reductant level too low
What it means
The system reports that the reductant level is too low. Check the actual fluid level and whether the reported level is accurate.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P207F
Fault name
Reductant quality performance
What it means
The system has reported reductant quality performance. The code alone does not identify the cause.

Still unsure? Send us your registration and a photo of the warning on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppWhat is AdBlue Delete?
AdBlue Delete generally means software changes intended to disable SCR dosing, monitoring or associated restrictions. The scope varies by vehicle and software. It does not repair a failed pump, sensor or injector, and should not be presented as a guaranteed cure for all warning or starting faults.
What is AdBlue Removal?
AdBlue Removal is often used to mean electronic disabling rather than physical removal of the tank and other components. Ask what work is actually proposed, because the term alone does not define the service.
What is AdBlue Repair?
AdBlue Repair addresses the diagnosed fault. It may involve wiring repairs, a manufacturer-specified software update, or replacement of a confirmed faulty component. A complete tank assembly is not necessary in every case.
What is an AdBlue Fix after topping up?
The appropriate fix depends on the cause. It may be completing the handbook's refill recognition procedure, adding the specified minimum amount where appropriate, or repairing an active SCR fault. Clearing codes without resolving the cause can allow the warning to return.
What information do you need for a quote?
Send your registration and postcode, along with the warning text, quantity of AdBlue added and any fault codes. These details help check the likely specification and attendance options. Further identification or diagnostic testing may be needed before the work can be quoted accurately.
Can I send my warning light photo on WhatsApp?
Yes. Send a clear photo showing the full message and countdown, plus your registration and postcode. Include complete fault-code readings if you have them. These support an initial assessment but cannot confirm a failed component on their own.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency callouts?
Yes. Our standard hours are Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Emergency callouts are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, subject to location and availability. An additional emergency callout charge applies and is confirmed before dispatch.
