AdBlue tank replacement vs repair
AdBlue Delete and Removal describe different approaches to SCR problems; they are not interchangeable. When comparing AdBlue tank replacement vs repair, first establish what has failed and whether that component is separately serviceable. 01Understanding the service
Tank replacement or component repair?
A replacement tank assembly may be appropriate when a failed pump, heater or sensor is integrated and no suitable separate repair is available. On other versions, individual components can be replaced. Check the exact tank design, parts availability and test results before authorising a complete assembly.
- Check for tank damage, leaks and contamination.
- Test pump pressure and delivery rather than relying on a warning alone.
- Check the relevant heater and level-sensor circuits where supported by the fault evidence.
- Inspect lines and the dosing injector for leakage or crystallised deposits.
- Confirm whether the failed component is supplied separately for the fitted assembly.
What the symptoms and fault codes mean
A start-prevention countdown can result from low fluid level or a detected SCR malfunction, depending on the vehicle. It does not identify a failed tank by itself. Code descriptions should be checked against manufacturer diagnostics, including any suffixes and supporting data.
- P20E8: reductant pressure too low. Possible causes include supply, pump, leakage or pressure-sensing faults; testing is needed to distinguish them.
- P203F: reductant level too low. Verify the actual fluid level and whether the system recognises it correctly.
- P204F: reductant system performance, bank 1. This is a system-level fault, not proof of a tank or pump failure.
- A reset or recalibration will not restore a mechanically failed pump or clear a physical blockage.
Confirm the exact vehicle and tank version
SCR fitment and tank serviceability vary by model, engine, build date and market specification. A brand name or registration year alone is not enough to establish whether a tank is modular or which parts are available. Send your registration; the VIN, diagnostic identification or fitted part number may also be needed to confirm the correct assembly.
What to check before approving replacement
Ask for the diagnostic findings and an explanation of why a complete tank is needed rather than a component repair. Compare quotes on the same basis, including any required setup and post-repair testing.
- Recorded fault codes and relevant live-data or pressure-test results.
- Confirmation that wiring, power supply and external leaks have been checked where relevant.
- Identification of the failed component and available repair options.
- Any required priming, adaptation or software procedures after repair.
- Verification that normal operation is restored and the warning or countdown clears through the prescribed procedure.
Mobile assessment and repair planning
Some diagnostic checks and repairs may be possible at your location, while tank removal or more involved work may require suitable lifting equipment and workshop facilities. Send your postcode, registration and warning details to confirm coverage and the likely next step. If a start-prevention countdown is active or the vehicle will not start, do not assume a mobile reset will resolve it; recovery may still be necessary.

Check Your AdBlue Fault Code
Enter a diagnostic code to explore its meaning and the information to send with your enquiry.
8 common codes
- P20E8
Fault name
Reductant pressure too low
What it means
The system has reported insufficient reductant pressure. Diagnostic checks help establish the cause, rather than assuming a failed pump.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P20EE
Fault name
SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold
What it means
SCR NOx reduction efficiency has been reported below its expected threshold. The full scan and sensor readings help identify possible causes.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P204F
Fault name
Reductant system performance, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns SCR operation or monitoring. Read it alongside the full scan and vehicle-specific information.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2200
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P229F
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit range/performance, bank 1 sensor 2
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2047
Fault name
Reductant injection valve circuit/open, bank 1 unit 1
What it means
The code concerns a dosing or aftertreatment injector. Check the fitted system and full scan before assuming a cause.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P203F
Fault name
Reductant level too low
What it means
The system reports that the reductant level is too low. Check the actual fluid level and whether the reported level is accurate.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P207F
Fault name
Reductant quality performance
What it means
The system has reported reductant quality performance. The code alone does not identify the cause.

Customer questions
Questions customers ask us
Still unsure? Send us your registration and a photo of the warning on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppWhat is AdBlue Delete?
AdBlue Delete refers to software changes intended to disable SCR dosing or associated monitoring. It does not repair a damaged tank, leak or failed component, and it should not be described as preventing every future warning or breakdown. Send your registration and fault codes so the fitted system and reported fault can be assessed.
What is AdBlue Removal?
AdBlue Removal is often used to mean electronic deactivation of SCR functions rather than physical removal of the tank. The term alone does not specify which functions are changed, and deactivation does not restore defective hardware.
What is the difference between AdBlue Delete and AdBlue Repair?
AdBlue Repair aims to restore normal system operation by diagnosing and correcting the cause of a fault. Depending on the vehicle, this may involve wiring repairs, a separately available component or a complete tank assembly. Delete instead changes system operation and does not repair the failed part.
What is an AdBlue Fix?
An AdBlue Fix means resolving the cause of a warning or malfunction. Clearing codes alone is not a repair. A reset, adaptation or manufacturer software update may be appropriate in some cases, but failed hardware needs the relevant repair and subsequent checks.
What vehicle and postcode information do you need for a quote?
Please send your registration, current postcode, mileage, exact dashboard message and any diagnostic codes. Include details of recent refills or repairs. These help identify likely fitment and check mobile availability; inspection or confirmation of the tank part number may still be needed before quoting for replacement.
Can I send my warning light photo on WhatsApp?
Yes. Send a clear photo of the warning, including any remaining-distance countdown, along with your registration. A photo helps with initial assessment but cannot confirm whether the tank, dosing system, wiring or another component is responsible.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency callouts?
Yes. Our standard hours are Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Emergency callouts are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, subject to location and availability. An additional emergency callout charge applies and is confirmed before dispatch.
