AdBlue quality sensor faults
AdBlue Delete and Removal enquiries for quality warnings should begin with identifying the fitted SCR system and the cause of the message. An AdBlue quality warning does not necessarily mean a quality sensor has failed: some vehicles assess fluid quality indirectly through SCR performance. Send your registration, postcode and warning message so we can check the vehicle details and mobile availability.

01Understanding the service
AdBlue quality sensor faults explained
AdBlue is a solution with a nominal urea concentration of 32.5% by mass in demineralised water, specified to ISO 22241. Where fitted, a dedicated quality sensor helps assess fluid concentration. Other systems infer a quality problem from dosing and exhaust-treatment performance rather than directly measuring concentration. Incorrect or contaminated fluid, dosing faults, NOx sensor problems and poor SCR conversion can therefore produce similar warnings. Fresh fluid in a full tank does not rule out a system fault.
Symptoms and fault codes to record
The following symptoms can accompany an SCR fault, but none proves that a quality sensor needs replacing. Record the exact message and obtain the complete diagnostic report, including manufacturer-specific descriptions and subcodes where available.
- An incorrect AdBlue quality or poor-quality fluid warning
- An engine management or emissions-system warning light
- A remaining-distance countdown before starting is inhibited
- P207F: reductant quality performance; this does not identify a particular failed component
- P204F: reductant system performance, bank 1; further testing is needed to locate the fault
- Reduced engine power on some vehicles, depending on the fault and control strategy
Vehicle fitment and tank replacement
SCR equipment varies by model, engine, build date and market specification. Peugeot Partner and Citroën Berlingo BlueHDi versions can have AdBlue tank-module faults, but these should not automatically be labelled quality-sensor failures. Whether a component can be replaced separately depends on the fitted assembly and available service parts. Selected Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Audi and Volkswagen diesels also use SCR, but model name or year alone does not confirm a dedicated quality sensor. Send your registration, and the VIN if requested, before ordering parts or assuming a complete tank is required.
Mobile assessment and repair planning
A useful diagnostic assessment checks stored faults and live data before recommending work. Depending on the symptoms, testing may include fluid concentration and contamination checks, wiring and connector inspection, dosing-pressure tests, injector checks and assessment of NOx sensor readings. Some checks can be performed at your location; others may need workshop facilities. Tell us whether the engine still starts and how much distance remains on any countdown so the next step can be planned.
Information to send before an appointment
Send your registration, postcode, mileage, warning photos and any diagnostic report. Tell us when the warning appeared, what fluid was added and whether previous work involved the tank, injector or exhaust sensors. For a Transit, Sprinter, Vivaro, Jaguar, BMW or another diesel, we first need to establish whether that particular engine and build specification uses AdBlue. These details help distinguish a fluid concern from a dosing, sensor or wiring fault without assuming the same solution suits every vehicle.

Check Your AdBlue Fault Code
Enter a diagnostic code to explore its meaning and the information to send with your enquiry.
8 common codes
- P20E8
Fault name
Reductant pressure too low
What it means
The system has reported insufficient reductant pressure. Diagnostic checks help establish the cause, rather than assuming a failed pump.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P20EE
Fault name
SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold
What it means
SCR NOx reduction efficiency has been reported below its expected threshold. The full scan and sensor readings help identify possible causes.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P204F
Fault name
Reductant system performance, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns SCR operation or monitoring. Read it alongside the full scan and vehicle-specific information.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2200
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P229F
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit range/performance, bank 1 sensor 2
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2047
Fault name
Reductant injection valve circuit/open, bank 1 unit 1
What it means
The code concerns a dosing or aftertreatment injector. Check the fitted system and full scan before assuming a cause.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P203F
Fault name
Reductant level too low
What it means
The system reports that the reductant level is too low. Check the actual fluid level and whether the reported level is accurate.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P207F
Fault name
Reductant quality performance
What it means
The system has reported reductant quality performance. The code alone does not identify the cause.

Customer questions
Questions customers ask us
Still unsure? Send us your registration and a photo of the warning on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppWhat is AdBlue Delete?
AdBlue Delete refers to software changes intended to deactivate SCR dosing and associated monitoring. It does not repair a failed sensor, pump, heater or wiring fault, and it should not be described as a guarantee against future warnings or starting problems. Send your registration and diagnostic results so the fitted system can be checked.
What is AdBlue Removal?
AdBlue Removal is often used to mean electronic SCR deactivation rather than physical removal of the tank and associated components. These are different operations, so the proposed scope needs to be clear. Access methods and compatibility depend on the vehicle and ECU.
What is the difference between AdBlue Delete and AdBlue Repair?
AdBlue Delete concerns deactivating system functions; AdBlue Repair identifies and rectifies the cause of a fault while retaining SCR operation. A repair may involve fluid correction, wiring work, a component replacement or a manufacturer-specified software update. A complete tank is not automatically required.
What is an AdBlue Fix?
An AdBlue Fix should address the diagnosed cause of the warning rather than simply clear stored codes. Depending on the vehicle, checks may cover fluid condition, dosing pressure, the injector, sensors and wiring. A countdown may require a vehicle-specific verification procedure after a successful repair; clearing codes alone may not remove it.
What vehicle and postcode information do you need for a quote?
Please send your registration, current postcode, mileage, exact warning message and any fault-code report. Include details of recent top-ups or repairs. The registration helps identify likely engine and SCR fitment, but the VIN, ECU identification or an inspection may be needed to confirm components and software. Your postcode lets us check mobile availability.
Can I send my warning light photo on WhatsApp?
Yes. Send a clear photo of the complete warning message and any remaining-distance countdown, together with your registration. This helps with initial assessment, but a dashboard photo cannot confirm a failed quality sensor or replace diagnostic testing.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency callouts?
Yes. Our standard hours are Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Emergency callouts are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, subject to location and availability. An additional emergency callout charge applies and is confirmed before dispatch.
