AdBlue countdown 500 miles
AdBlue Delete and Removal describe different approaches, but a 500-mile countdown first needs an accurate diagnosis. Depending on the vehicle and warning wording, it may indicate low AdBlue or an SCR system fault. Many systems can prevent an engine restart once the countdown reaches zero. Check the handbook and send your registration with a dashboard photo for vehicle-specific guidance.

01Understanding the service
AdBlue Delete and Removal: Understanding the Countdown
A remaining-distance warning is not proof that a particular component has failed. If the message specifically requests an AdBlue top-up, follow the handbook's fluid specification, minimum refill quantity and recognition procedure. If it reports an emissions fault, or remains after a suitable refill and recognition procedure, arrange diagnosis promptly. Software deactivation is not a hardware repair and should not be presented as a guaranteed cure for every countdown.
- Record the exact warning wording and remaining distance.
- Distinguish a low-fluid message from an SCR malfunction warning.
- Use AdBlue meeting ISO 22241 and avoid overfilling.
- Do not assume that disconnecting the battery or clearing codes will reset the restriction.
Technical Symptoms and Fault Codes
P20E8 means reductant pressure too low. It requires investigation of the pressure supply and associated controls; it does not identify a failed pump by itself. P2002 means diesel particulate filter efficiency below threshold, bank 1, and is not a specific AdBlue pressure or dosing code. Warning stages and countdown behaviour differ between manufacturers. A sudden change in displayed distance is not enough to diagnose a leak or pump failure.
- Read relevant control modules and retain fault codes, status and freeze-frame data before clearing anything.
- Check fluid level and condition, leaks, wiring and supply voltage as appropriate.
- Use pressure, dosing and sensor tests guided by the manufacturer's diagnostic procedure.
- Investigate DPF faults separately while considering any related engine or exhaust issues.
Make and Model Specific Considerations
Peugeot and Citroën BlueHDi vehicles, SCR-equipped Mercedes-Benz Sprinters and some Land Rover diesels can display remaining-distance or restart-restriction warnings. SCR fitment, warning wording and reset procedures vary by year, engine and market. Tank deformation, pump faults and NOx sensor problems are possible on certain applications, but none can be diagnosed from the countdown alone. Send your registration to help check fitment; confirming the exact ECU version may require diagnostic identification.
What Mobile Assessment Can Establish
Send your postcode, registration and warning details to check whether mobile assessment is available and suitable. Some faults can be diagnosed or repaired on site; others require parts, workshop facilities or recovery. A vehicle at zero remaining miles may refuse to restart after being switched off, depending on its system and fault state. Do not rely on the displayed distance as a guarantee of continued operation or assume a software reset will restore starting.
Information to Have Ready
Clear information helps distinguish a refill issue from an SCR fault and reduces guesswork before attendance.
- Vehicle registration and current postcode.
- A photo of the full dashboard message.
- Current countdown distance and whether the engine starts.
- Recent AdBlue refill quantity and any previous repairs.
- Diagnostic codes or reports, if available.

Check Your AdBlue Fault Code
Enter a diagnostic code to explore its meaning and the information to send with your enquiry.
8 common codes
- P20E8
Fault name
Reductant pressure too low
What it means
The system has reported insufficient reductant pressure. Diagnostic checks help establish the cause, rather than assuming a failed pump.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P20EE
Fault name
SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold
What it means
SCR NOx reduction efficiency has been reported below its expected threshold. The full scan and sensor readings help identify possible causes.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P204F
Fault name
Reductant system performance, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns SCR operation or monitoring. Read it alongside the full scan and vehicle-specific information.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2200
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit, bank 1
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P229F
Fault name
NOx sensor circuit range/performance, bank 1 sensor 2
What it means
The code concerns a NOx sensor circuit or signal. It does not alone confirm which part needs attention.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P2047
Fault name
Reductant injection valve circuit/open, bank 1 unit 1
What it means
The code concerns a dosing or aftertreatment injector. Check the fitted system and full scan before assuming a cause.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P203F
Fault name
Reductant level too low
What it means
The system reports that the reductant level is too low. Check the actual fluid level and whether the reported level is accurate.
VIEW FAULT DETAILS - P207F
Fault name
Reductant quality performance
What it means
The system has reported reductant quality performance. The code alone does not identify the cause.

Customer questions
Questions customers ask us
Still unsure? Send us your registration and a photo of the warning on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsAppWhat is AdBlue Delete?
AdBlue Delete refers to software changes intended to disable SCR dosing, monitoring or related restart restrictions. Results depend on the vehicle and calibration; it does not repair defective hardware or resolve unrelated engine faults. Send your registration and the exact warning so the vehicle specification can be checked.
What is AdBlue Removal?
AdBlue Removal is often used to describe SCR deactivation, rather than literal removal of the tank, injector and sensors. It does not automatically mean every component is disconnected or stops communicating. The intended work should be explained for the specific vehicle.
What is the difference between AdBlue Delete and AdBlue Repair?
AdBlue Repair aims to restore the SCR system's intended operation. Depending on diagnosis, this may involve a refill, wiring repairs, software updates or replacement of a confirmed faulty component. AdBlue Delete changes system operation instead of repairing the underlying defect; it should not be described as preventing every future warning or non-start condition.
What is an AdBlue Fix?
AdBlue Fix is a general description, not a specific procedure. A suitable fix depends on whether the countdown is caused by low fluid, a dosing fault, a sensor problem or another issue. Clearing fault codes alone may not clear a restart restriction, and an unresolved fault can return.
What vehicle and postcode information do you need for a quote?
Please send your registration, current postcode, displayed countdown and exact warning text. These help establish the likely vehicle specification and check mobile attendance availability. A diagnostic scan, VIN or ECU identification may still be needed to confirm the fitted equipment and required work.
Can I send my warning light photo on WhatsApp?
A clear dashboard photo is useful. If WhatsApp is available through the published contact details, send the warning text, remaining distance and any accompanying warning lights. Include whether you have recently added AdBlue and how much. A photo helps with initial assessment but cannot replace diagnostic testing.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency callouts?
Yes. Our standard hours are Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Emergency callouts are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, subject to location and availability. An additional emergency callout charge applies and is confirmed before dispatch.
